I'd pull that tire off and take it back to the tire man. Doesn't appear to be any other wear marks in the tire from spinning on something or a winch or anything dragging on the tire.
I beat the crap out of my tires, spinning on big rocks, drive gravel constantly, lots of power you name it and I've never done that to a tire with that much tread left on it
Irregular tire wear

What I said was kind of vague. We had a driver in mud on a jobsite where we set up a crane. He was spinning in the mud and there was a piece of sign post buried in the mud. It ate up a tire pretty good and it looked similar. I guess it could be a bad tire also...slow.rider and pavrom Thank this.

By looking closely at the row of lugs that that aren't missing you can see chunks of the lugs starting to break out. Or in the case of the first pic there is one lug beside three missing lugs with a piece missing with no damage on the preceding lug or the remaining lug.
Honestly looking at this one reminds me of recap tires from the 90's. Used to see this a lot back then.201, AModelCat, skallagrime and 2 others Thank this. -
Yeah just change the tires, this isnt a simple case of irregular wear or even a winch, if that were the case, it would likely be outside tires getting chunked, but there would be wear marks circumferentially as well. Have the races/end play of bearings checked but in all likelihood its just those tires
Off chance, are those supposed to be directional tires?slow.rider and pavrom Thank this. -
You just can't catch a break Pav. Always something going on. Hopefully you get to the bottom of this problem, atleast its just one tire not several of them.slow.rider and pavrom Thank this.

I doubt those are directional tires .

I had issues with the tires on same truck and i posted it earlier in fall i think and that was completely different wear and most of the community participating in the discussion convinced me that it was bad set of tires ( someone mentioned running same brand and experience same issues ) , so i replaced whole axle with virgin new tires , previous driver drove probably 15k miles , i did another 5 , truck sit for awhile , new driver in and this is what happens . Cant blame the driver and i am not here to ask if thats his fault or not , again its just a tire , but at the same time would like to know the reason caused it and prevent in in future .

I had winch robbed my tire once but i was very slow and didn't cause much damage . Kinda doubt its bad tire cause i installed 12 tires at the same place for both trucks . Driver mentioned to replace shocks but even if they bad - this is not the case for this tire ( most likely 2 tires will be messed up different way )
BigBob410 Thanks this. -
Worn out shocks are generally a symptom of a problem and not the real problem.
It is possible to get one bad tire. I'm not saying General tires are not good tires but this one looks like the lugs are chipping off.
Even Michelin have some trailer tires that the tread chip out really bad.AModelCat Thanks this. -
Was your previous brand Goodyear? With partial wear on the outside rib and random wear on the row of lugs beside it?
