How much can you sell a DOT # for? What seems to be reasonable in today’s market?

Old DOT numbers are like old cattle brands... They come with a reputation... How would you like to have a 3 digit DOT number???

You sell it for what the business and customer base are worth and hope the new owner keeps giving the same or better service to your customers.

You don’t sell a MC or DOT, you sell the business that owns the numbers.

^^ That's how I did it...and now I'm looking to sell the business this way also to anyone who wants to take over an existing operating business - just add trucks! My DOT# and MC# is tied to the business, not the individual.

    b61mack Thanks this.
