Time before last when I went home they called me to ask where the keys to this truck were. I took them with me and locked the doors, they wanted to do something to the truck while I was gone and couldn't.

I'm wondering if they really expect us to be impressed with that new pay package.
HaglerFan Thanks this. -
Millis has been great and it's hard to leave but there are opportunities and I need the income and the time home and they have that.
Maybe the other Millis guys over there are lying about it but I doubt that.MIT Thanks this. -
10% raise! But after this week of 5 hour driving days and just sitting around that amounts to maybe $50? Oof. Millis, good place to start and hard to leave.
Also, did we all get a message reminding us to get paperwork signed for detention? Guess I'm not getting detention for yesterday at Superior beverage. Must make sure to do that today at Shearer's DC. Going on 4 hours already. But I've been getting detention pay for months when I didn't even realize I was due any. Now suddenly no pay if no signed paperwork...ok. My favorite thing to do, ask for that and get shot down and then have to bug them for their name, etc. These workers out here love that. Ha -

Last time I asked what I needed to do to get paid for detention they replied nothing. I haven't been paid for that load yet so I'm not sure if that meant I didn't need to do anything because I'd get paid like before or because I'm not getting paid now.
MIT Thanks this. -
Going to be honest, I really don’t pay attention to the detention pay. If I get it I get it, if I don’t I don’t. Main reason is if I really feel I should get detention and then I don’t get it that would piss me off which then would lead to bad feelings. My bad feelings would start festering into a burning hatred. My blood pressure would start rising, my attitude would go south, I would stop caring, deliveries would be late, fuel stops would be missed. I would quit. Right now ignorance and not knowing is the secret to my happiness.

So you can make a lot of money....as long as you never go home.
There's a company with a terminal near me advertising for line haul, terminal to terminal drivers "willing to stay out 10 days at a time" at 0.65/mile. As far as I know that's the rate without "bonuses" of any sort, plus paid vacation and PTO. Will probably be talking to them shortly. August and annual safety bonus will be here soon and then I might be gone. I've enjoyed my time with Millis but I feel like I've outgrown them.Still undecided, HaglerFan, dwells40 and 1 other person Thank this.
