Thats what they said, after I opted out, I made more money (net pay). It probably has to do with what you claim on your taxes. not sure. One thing I liked about Knight was the daily pay, made it easier to keep track of your trips/pay.

This is interesting Knight pays 8 cpm... How is this possible even with new hires...

Onto the pay subject. I've been looking over my husband's payroll and I'm totally confused by it. According to Knights pay scale it's a sliding scale of .31 - .40 cents/mile yet on the payroll I'm seeing him being paid .18 - .27 cents/mile. I'm very confused by this. Am I missing something? My husband asked his safety manager who said that they only tax a portion of it....if that's so where's the rest of his pay? Can someone explain this to me?
Sure, If he is on perdiem his .18 would reflect a load of over 500miles at .31 cpm. .31-.13 for perdiem = .18. Now since they take .02 per mile if you are on perdiem he should be receiving .11 untaxed.
The .40 is for loads under 100 miles which would be .40-13= .27 cpm -
i had to argue and come close to screaming at those adam henries to get me off of their per diem plan. i then had to babysit and make sure they actually updated their system to get me off it.

I have friends who drive for them say the same thing, I just signed a form opting out of it and didnt have any issues.

I read on another forum that Marten Transport requires there drivers to be in there per diem program - that would suck. I hope this doesnt become a normal practice with the rest of the companys.

When I worked for them, there were continual questions and discrepancies on the payroll bit. However, my wife burned up the phone lines to payroll in Phoenix, and always got it straightened out. She told me that the folks she talked with there, were always helpful, and were able to answer her questions, and correct the MANY problems that they had.
Of course she is an accountant, and speaks the same language they do...
Not what they are paying. The 8 cents is the DIFFERENCE between being on per deim or not. Even Knight can't get away with paying drivers 8 cents a mile. But you can bet your butt that they would LIKE to... -
Well, I drove for Knight Refrigerated for 1 year. It started out as out for 4 weeks and home 2-3 days. (Their policy is 1 day out for every week out. Already a problem!) It rapidly became 5 weeks out, then 6 weeks. The last two trips out were over 50 days out!
I was home mid-August for 3 days and did not get home until October 1-3. And then went out till Nov 23. I missed the birth of my 2nd granddaughter and my 17th wedding aniversary. They claimed that there was NO FREIGHT to get me home! Yeah, right! Call a #### broker! And how many days was I allowed off after 7 weeks on the road? 7 right? Wrong! After 2 days. they wanted me back on the road! -
his post DID NOT have improper content ..that was a cleaned up version..and the forums are here for us trucker's to haggle back and forth on different topics..till we get a good answer for our complaint..thanks have a great day!!

Roehl also requires PER DIEM for any new hire. No longer optional.
