Sounds like we know the rules and what we can do. Gray areas will always exist and we aren’t going to get those solved in this forum.
I too always travel with a stack of paperwork supporting my position of not needing a CDL.
Lessons learned I guess as I once spent 2 1/2 hours in Wyoming at a Point of Entry Scale arguing with two Lesbian DOT officers, and oddly enough it wasn’t even about a CDL or a log book, it was about whether I needed a IFTA sticker!
Leaving the house in a few hours this morning for a weekend trip with the rig as well. Always look forward to firing that thing up and pulling out of the driveway.

We’re building a crawler hauler to be used with our Freightliner century cab “RV”. We bought a 44’ deck 52’ OAL GN trailer to build off. In hindsight I wish I had bought a step deck to capitalize on the air ride, brakes and increased axle capacity. To the OP, from way back when, we could legally use our truck to pull a “commercial” trail for personal gain in the toter home style
