Copy that. Some of these trucks I'm looking at still have some factory warranty left. Arrow truck sales include a warranty for around 13000 extra that supposed to be pretty good. Covers exhaust, engine, trans, etc but pretty expensive. Trying to get one with some warranty left on it or an extended warranty that's not crap. With the limited amount of trucks available for sale currently, it's not looking good unless you don't mind paying 20000 dollars more for something that was 20000 less 2 freaking months ago.

Do not.. I repeat do not buy that warranty from Arrow truck sales. You could wipe your backside with that money flush it and get more use out of it.

Yes def can be handled easily, this is true. The problem is to keep a def system from bankrupting you, you need to have a HUGE cash wad ready for when it starts to fail AND you need to maintain it properly and on schedule from day 1 to keep the costs reasonable. The problem is if you dont these systems #### the bed.

The main reason most of us say avoid buying a used emissions truck and either go new or pre emissions is not because these systems CANT be reliable. Its because 9 out of 10 used emissions trucks were owned by some mega that put the MINIMUM amount of effort into maintaining these trucks and likely just stopped once the warranty was gone and sent them on down the road for new ones as soon as they acted up. Whereupon the dealer will do the bare minimum to make them pass inspections.

That means when someone like me or you buys one of these trucks we got to go through and un#### the truck nose to tail which is VERY expensive and involves a LOT of tows and a LOT of down time and a LOT of money tracking down every #### error and problem. And then once the truck is back up to spec you still have a worn out emissions system that is going to get worse and worse and worse as time goes on and require larger and larger repairs.

Meanwhile if you had gotten old iron or new and shiny then odds are good you will have a functional truck for either the length of the warranty or which requires minimal repairs if you dont buy an old ratted out truck in dire need of a rebuild.

If buying a FL run it down to FL dealer and hookup the def system to computer and run it through a forced regen than ask to see the numbers are where they need to be along with filter accumulation levels. Pull maintenance records of course , has the egr been replaced or have any thing been replaced on aftertreatment system ? Alot of videos on how to replace sensors and problem shoot alot of issues are available.
I bought the OTR performance reset tool and it paid for itself in one use . Cleared code ,ran forced regen and kept truck moving. Well worth the investment .

The way the salesman made it sound great lol. Of course, you've got to consider the source.

One of the selling points with arrow truck sales was that they inspect the truck's def system and if it is bad they replace it, the filter's that is. You can also check the soot levels with a computer scanner or sometimes it's available through the dash computer and you can also find out how much the truck idled which will give you some insight into the possibility of there being issues with it. None of this guarantees your not going to have problems but it can minimize the possibility of problems at least in the short term. As I said previously and I'm sure your aware of they all break down eventually.

I agree in a perfect world you'd get a pre-emissions truck that isn't on its last legs and go with it but the reality is you could just have another set of possible problems although it wouldn't be emission issues. I've been looking at glider kits but like everything else, they are hard to find at least at a reasonable price.

One things for sure you'd better do your homework on whatever you buy and inspect it meticulously.

I wish I could afford a new truck but that's just not in the cards for me currently. My wife mentioned maybe I should look into leasing one. I know nothing about that.

I watched a video about that code tool. Yeah, I can imagine that could come in handy. I also saw a video where a guy disconnected the speed sensor which disabled the limp mode so you could get it home. That was interesting.

Doesn’t the 07 w/Cummins still have a doser injector and particulate filter? Aren’t they problematic. Isn’t this the set up Rawze has become famous with patchwork fixes? Might as well go older. 07, 02 Whats another 5 yrs?

I think 02-04 Detroit’s only have an egr valve? Maybe 05, 06? Not sure. That’s nothing to replace every year or 2. Compared to the dpf, and def junk.
