But let me just say this. For them to be #####ing about idle times when rates have been at an all time high for awhile now is ridiculous. Yes fuel has gotten more expensive but they are making ridiculous $ on these high rates paying all these new drivers the entry wage.
It comes down to the greedy being even more greedy and once again a sign of a bigger company now in charge....hotrod1653, dwells40, Still undecided and 3 others Thank this. -
On a side note now that summer is here and it is basically hot or will be soon everywhere.
Will the people who work in the offices at Millis and Heartland only be allowed to use the AC this summer 30% of the time while at work or else jeopardize some of their income?Still undecided, HaglerFan and keen98 Thank this. -
I still haven't gotten a message about the new idle policy. I wonder if they only sent it out to guys who will have an issue with it?
Nope, not going flatbed. This company does refeer and dry van. I guess they get the really high rate last minute loads or something. A couple guys from Millis are over there and they've been blown away when they've hauled the same or similar loads we pull here with what is actually being paid out for these loads compared to what the driver sees at (in my case if I hit 3000 miles, 48.5 cents per mile (and I'm always ending up driving 50-100 miles more on a load than the paid). -
It didn't take long for the temperature to get to 85 after I shut the truck off today, and it would have got worse if I hadn't turned the engine back on. You're going to see tired drivers making dumb mistakes due to the heat if they can't run the AC, or see drivers leave.
I think I'd rather have an APU than idle, but with the longer payback time for them and the trucks being replaced sooner that may not make sense. I sure sleep at lot better when the engine is off, the noise and vibration both make it harder to sleep.HaglerFan, JOHNQPUBLIC and MIT Thank this. -
I'm still at a loss over the fuel program/idling. I didn't get any message detailing it. I got those messages a month back about the problem, then I got the pay raise info, but nothing about how the new fuel bonus program works.
Still undecided Thanks this. -
