I was hired with a new company owner only had one truck and didn’t know this first thing about trucking or logs. He had no yard to park the truck I picked up both truck and trailer from a repair shop after so many unsafe demands for me to drive this truck in unsafe situations and hours i left the truck at a repair shop that he told me to take it to get repair done at I left everything in the truck. He then threatens me to call the cops and make a police report for stolen property that must didn’t go to well be he then proceeded to threaten to call fmsca on me and report me for leaving his truck and missing BOLs l.. How would this affect my CDL please I need answers
Left company

Myself I'd go to the shop, grab my stuff and go home.
77fib77, slow.rider, truckdriver31 and 2 others Thank this. -
when you quit a job, you NEVER leave your stuff in it, cuz now it'll be "missing". always clean out your truck.
he could try to nail you with quitting or abandoning under a load.
but in of itself, it'll have no effect on your CDl, only the chances of getting another job at some other places you apply at.
he can call the FBI, CIA, NSA, NASA, FCMSA, or the YMCA.......let him call whomever he wants, the truck is parked at the shop, and you told him, his word against your words.slow.rider, truckdriver31 and Chinatown Thank this. -
Some companies look at what you did as "Truck Abandonment" and won't hire you.
Some companies will hire you anyway.
Won't affect your CDL, but does affect your reliability as an employee.
Next time hire on with an established legitimate company instead of those small fly-by-night outfits.truckdriver31 Thanks this. -
I didn't see where OP quit, only that he took it to a shop the boss told him to take it for repairs.
Only getting OP's side of the story, I gather there were some costly repairs needed and the boss is pissed off that OP won't drive an unsafe truck so now he's pissing and moaning, trying to threaten OP because he's upset that he owns a POS truck that OP refuses to drive.Speed_Drums, slow.rider, truckdriver31 and 1 other person Thank this. -
ikr, but just 1 more chanceAModelCat Thanks this.

How are you supposed to turn a truck in when the guy doesn't have a yard?

A few thoughts …
first I am betting that this is a 1099 job, and the owner is another pos lowlife.
so second thought is let him call the cops, he has nothing to stand on, you can tell the cops that the truck is unsafe and I you can’t drive an unsafe truck, they will tend to believe you over him because it is at a shop.
so a third thought, he is full of crap about the fmcsa, they don’t care. There is nothing they care like this when it comes to the driver, but on the other hand he has more to fear about his truck being put out of service and how that can trigger an audit by the fmcsa.
a further thought is maybe you will learn a lesson about your stuff but on the other hand, nothing stopping you from documenting everything and suing him for stealing your stuff, it’s been done a few times.slow.rider, GoneButNotForgotten and AModelCat Thank this. -
