Sandblasting

So you guys are gonna roast me for this but… I went to get a new mask from the rental place and when I got back my buddy who’s helping me (has prior experience with the machine but not on trucks) had already started without covering much up. Got the wires and airlines covered that’s pretty much it. I’m gonna use a pressured air piston to remove what I can after the job is done, then I’ll hit it with hot water pressure.

I had to rent a huge airmen compressor because the machine will shut off quick with anything smaller. Also I’m using black aluminum oxide. $10 a bag. Here’s a pic if it helps

 

UPDATE: so I finished the sandblasting yesterday and it came out great. It is a VERY messy process however. I went through about 15 bags of media. I reused what I could, but since I did it outside some of it was not recyclable. Despite not covering up seals or joints I didn’t cause them any damage because I didn’t spray them directly. A lot of the old grease helped protect them. Before painting I thoroughly blew of the chassis. I used a epoxy primer along with a 2 part polyurethane.
