The only real problem with shortening a frame is re-drilling all the holes for the suspension mounts. You want to make sure they're perfectly lined up, each side with the other. Otherwise you're going to have some really bad tire wear and possibly drive line problems.
We shortened one of our logging trucks into a single axle and our mechanic did a good job...but he said he'd never do another one.

I think I got a good deal, waiting on finance to give a final answer.
2017 Cascadia 125 with a 72" midroof sleeper.
79,000 miles, 455hp DD15 with a DT12 auto trans
2.62 Rears and a 286 inch wheelbase.
Truck is pretty much mint, we agreed on $83,000
It will be a 2 car hauler bed, leaving it as a tractor would raise my policy by $9000+. Customized into a car carrier bed would raise my policy by only $2,000.
