Scale Dodging ticket

I call BS but anything is possible. We had an ole brown hat in my parts trying to hand out open container tickets for cans in the bed of a pickup.

 

Just goes to show the system is rigged and cops don't play fair.

 

The last company I worked for was headquartered at exit 135 on 55 just south of bloomsdale. They loved nailing our guys for not sweeping off their deck after unloading, which is understandable. What’s petty is when you haul a load of palletized stone 350 miles and they reach their arm in 3 feet and pull out a hand full of gravel inside the pallet. Those rocks had rode just fine for the first 350 miles, I’m sure they were going to make the last 30. They didn’t care, here’s your ticket.

I did hear about them getting hassled on the old road, even empty, and even though our yard was on us 61.

 

Now, don't I have the right to not incriminate myself according to the constitution. If I'm responsible for the maintenance of the truck and trailer, my logs, and the weight in the trailer, (amongst other things) and your forcing me to drive I over the scale, that seems pretty self incriminating.

 

They cannot actually force you to drive the truck tho. They can try to intimidate you, detain you and even tow the vehicle, none of those options reflect well on them if you have a dashcam. Sure it’s lost time but some people don’t like being pushed around. Personally? I’d tell the trooper to go #### himself.

 

I second this.

I was ticketed for not obeying a DOT directional signal while pulling through a weigh station in Kentucky. The cop manning the weigh station was literally in his first week on the job and pushed the red (enter station) light so quickly that the red light was blocked by the truck pulling forward in front of me but green when he cleared the lane. I never saw the red light. I pulled forward to the wait line, paused three seconds to make sure the green light was mine (it stayed green) and I moved along. The rookie cop chased me down and gave me a ticket.

After talking to lawyers, I had to pay $250 to take some fukactda online safety course that the county offered that kept points off my record and got the ticket dismissed.

Look for some way out like that, pay the fine and be done with it.
