Because an electric cooler is different than an actual refrigerator/freezer. Electric coolers use cheap thermoelectric compressors to remove heat and only cool a little bit more than ambient temps.

Actual refrigerator/freezers use a compressor and refrigerant to cool down to and below freezing.

Yeah, a broken finger should not equal two months off work. I wouldn't be able to throw tarps, but anything else should be manageable.

Next thing you know, people are going to try to sue others for holding a door for them and for not holding a door for them.

There is a member on TTR that advocates not checking mirrors while driving. His reasoning is that he is only liable for what is in front of his truck. He claims this is how he was taught by a mega safety instructor.

Another believes that because another driver was incredibly stupid, that he is absolved of all responsibility in an accident, even though his own lack of situational awareness was a contributing factor.

Now we have a member injured due to not taking care for his own safety, leaving it at least partially in the hands of another. If he's a company driver, his employer is not going to allow him to work until a doctor gives him a full release. That leaves the driver in a potentially bad spot financially. His own workman's comp will claim he wasn't doing work for the company, so a claim would be denied.

Personal responsibility and legal liability are two different things. In this case, while the driver should have taken responsibility for his own safety, the other company may be legally liable, because their driver failed to secure the door which caused his injury, and he was asked to be there.

Lawyers will be standing by, handing out cards and promising big payouts to anyone offended by the door holder, or door unholder. Wether the offense was actual, perceived, or imagined is irrelevant.

Two months outta work for a single broken digit? C'mon man, here's the deal, wrap that sucker up, let it heal right, maybe two weeks outta work, tops, learn a lesson from it and move on....
