Sounds like we know the rules and what we can do. Gray areas will always exist and we aren’t going to get those solved in this forum.
I too always travel with a stack of paperwork supporting my position of not needing a CDL.
Lessons learned I guess as I once spent 2 1/2 hours in Wyoming at a Point of Entry Scale arguing with two Lesbian DOT officers, and oddly enough it wasn’t even about a CDL or a log book, it was about whether I needed a IFTA sticker!
Leaving the house in a few hours this morning for a weekend trip with the rig as well. Always look forward to firing that thing up and pulling out of the driveway.

Sorry but that’s wrong, there is no such thing as a one ton truck, the truck that have a gvrw over 10k requires logs in almost all states, and if there is a trailer with a 10k plus rating, it cdl land.

You winning prizes as a race car driver/owner is a commercial venture.

We’re building a crawler hauler to be used with our Freightliner century cab “RV”. We bought a 44’ deck 52’ OAL GN trailer to build off. In hindsight I wish I had bought a step deck to capitalize on the air ride, brakes and increased axle capacity. To the OP, from way back when, we could legally use our truck to pull a “commercial” trail for personal gain in the toter home style
