Usually these carriers are paying 85-90%. They then bill out of settlement for things like insurance or trailer rent.

Why owning an equipment should be any different from owning a skill? Whether you are leased on to a carrier, or hired on 1099 that's essentially the same thing. I could hire a skilled gardener to do my landscaping and provide him with my tools, I just need his skill. What's wrong with 1099? Free country, everyone should hire as they want and everyone should be paid as they want.

I heard there was a trucking club similar to a riding club. I wonder if joining them would help. I don't own so ooida is not my choice

I certainly hope some of you guys confidence in this bills failure is correct. I just have no idea where this confidence comes from. It's not like the the Senate is a strong hold of American liberties either.
My guess is it won't effect other industries hardly at all. It's a political pay off to the Teamsters. We are considered small fish in the grand scheme of politics and the general public wouldn't even notice the bills passage. You really get a good idea of how much independence you have when your livelyhood depends on a bunch of sissy creeps slithering around DC stuffing their pockets full of cash with handouts.
