People really need to start paying attention to what they're attempting. A lot of bad in this bill, for everyone.

The bill specifically states that you cannot 1099 anybody in the same scope of work that you do. So no you couldn't contract out some other painting company to help your business during busy season.Last edited: Jun 9, 2021

FedEx and Nike are among those found to have avoided U.S. tax liability for three straight years. Just as the Biden administration is pushing to raise taxes on corporations, a new study finds that at least 55 of America's largest paid no taxes last year on billions of dollars in profits.
Read this article from the NY Times
No Federal Taxes for Dozens of Big, Profitable Companies.
And what about all the people in this country illegally? What about every freaken loser living off the system that IS fully capable of working? "Oh I'm on disability" my ### your disabled. You want to chase tax revenue tax things like alcohol, pot, and tobacco products, through the roof, sorry smokers and drinkers, it might actually save some people. OK, I'm starting to get crazy, it's just that this Invest In America and Pro Act BS has me so angry, and the fact that people just go along with it, the sheeple, California and AB5 should have NEVER been allowed to pass if the stupid people had just stood up and fought tooth and nail. I actually love the sound of The Fair Tax, always sounded good to me, but noooooo, we'll probably never see that happen.
When I see articles like this.....
Amazon Has Record-Breaking Profits in 2020, Avoids $2.3 Billion in Federal Income Taxes
How can one just sit back and let these idiot politicians pick our pockets?!?!
I don't give a crap how someone or a business gets paid, W-2, 1099, brown envelope taped under the table, I could care less, all of that money is getting recycled back into the population by buying goods and services with it, if they want a level playing field for all then no more loopholes for these big corporations, with so many illegals working in this country why aren't they going after them too?
Who do they think picked the watermelons this morning? Did they just roll into the trailer too?
I just hope some of you have done something to contact your reps regarding this, I hope you've done something to be heard besides here.

After reading it, I'd have an easier time imagining/living in a world after a meteor strike than imagining a world with the Pro Act.PoleCrusher Thanks this.

I have no reps. Until people stop thinking they only have two choices to vote on, they will continue playing everybody.ProfessionalNoticer, dwells40 and PoleCrusher Thank this.

What are the chances of this passing? Im thinking not much.......anyone think this has a real shot at passing?
PoleCrusher Thanks this. -
No it won't pass, but that doesn't mean it's the end. California will enforce AB5, & Massachusetts will likely start enforcing their ABC test, which is the same as California's, & has been law since 2004. Other states will enact similar laws and we'll have a bigger mess.PoleCrusher and TheLoadOut Thank this.

You pay those guys cash, just like construction companies have been paying illegals for the past 30 years. Nothing will change there. In fact, it will get worse. This bill seems to be specifically coming after the transportation industry. I could be wrong. Going to have to check with the house painters union. The transportation industry is the big prize. It's just a racket to take control over a huge industry. Nothing more, nothing less. It's ridiculous to think all these people pouring over the border are going to be hard working W2 tax paying citizens. We all know the pros and cons of 1099 work related to trucking. There is a portion that is slimy but also a side that is the one last stake of right to work freedom we have.
They spend months pounding the podium screaming about the rich paying their fair share. Problem is for the most part they already do. It's why they always come after us.ProfessionalNoticer, PoleCrusher and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
My thoughts are this...you can't put anything passed them, anything seems possible with them, they are not to be trusted. While I feel it probably won't pass....this time....as I believe many Republicans are against it, it will probably go back and get fine tuned, and still come back not looking very good.
But just the thought of it being out there and floating around is scary enough.PoleCrusher and nikmirbre Thank this. -
I thought the first circuit ruled against the Massachusetts law. I admit I don't know the details yet.
