I get my PM done at the dealer in Phoenix OR. It is $380 for a full service. Petro next door charged me $475. What I think is funny is each dealer charges a different price lol.

I am out of it now. But for at least 30 years this is how I handled the situation. And I just sold my last truck with over 2 million miles on it, still with miles left for the next owner. So PM done right pays dividends beyond your wildest imaginations. And my annual maintenance costs were far lower than anyone I knew in any of our fleets
I had my own place, could park and work on the truck in the driveway. I bought a 275 gallon used Fuel oil tank, common in the northeast. That's where the old oil went. A local salvage oil company was happy to pump it out when it was full for free. . All of my personal vehicles, and neighbors, friends who wanted to get rid of oil were welcome to dispose of it. They would come about every 18 months or so to pump it out.
All prices below are today's prices.
Bulk oil in drums costs $607 for 55 gallons at Sam's Club. $11 gallon. Oil Filters for a series 60 are $25 per (2), fuel filters $12 (2). 1 tube of grease $6
2 hours of work. Messy. Buy yourself a nice steak and 6 pack. You can afford it because your oil change just cost you $190, instead of the $300-$400 for the same service at any of the quickee truckstop chains. And you have the confidence to know it was done correctly.
But here is the KEY to the whole thing. When you are forced to crawl underneath your own truck once every 15-20 thousand miles, you get to know it very well. What is out of place, gee that wasn't leaking before, how the heck did that come loose? etc....Whether I fixed what I found, or got it done at MY dealer or repair shop, with known prices and quality is priceless. Anyone here is capable of learning how to do an oil change, even if you don't do any other maintenance work.
You are welcome.drivinhome, Tug Toy, haycarter and 5 others Thank this. -
