1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

We had an idiot driver "broker" come to our school the other day. I disagrred with nearly everything he said except one.

There is 3 tiers to trucking jobs. You have to start out at the bottom to get to the top. The top is FedEx, Frito Lay, Walmart, you know pay in the $60K+ arena.

And yes, I am sure there is trucking companies that are starving out the higher paid guys. It is happening in all lines of work gang! We have to start somewhere.

Hey 440! I am glad you got a prehire at Swift. They aren't advertising in TN right now. The recruiter told me to drop in an application and check back late January. I have not been seeing them on I-40 much either.

Just depends where you are, when you get hired.

Yep. Every trucking school in middle Tennessee has lost their 3RD party testing abilities except the one I am graduating at on Tuesday.

Volunteer, TTC, and a couple others.

TN might follow you on your testing route without you knowing it. You must have a certain amount of right turns, left turns, city and interstate driving. Some skimped on it and got caught.

It is a real PITA to get an actual road test here right now. You have to book weeks in advance. If they run out of time? Seeeya in a week or three! If it rains? Seeeya in a couple of weeks! If they are short on testers cuz one calls in sick? Seeeeeeya in a couple of weeks!

Think the actual state testers have a CDL? :laughing-guffaw:

    TN ain't playin around!

We had a state employee back in 2000 or so that was giving drivers licenses to undocumented middle Easterners. (also in the Memphis area) Now to renew your regular license you need a birth certificate.

Tennessee at one time was legally giving driver licenses to illegal aliens with social security card. Pre 9/11.

In TX you test at DPS, as far as I know anyway. I saw several driving schools testing there some days. So I'm guessing no 3rd party testing.
