Are you guys running Mobil and hand held? It has to be nice to get away from all the echoes and garbage and over modulated CB celebrities

We have both. It's nice to have a extra hand held to share with a trooper or when an escort is in foot backing one of us up. They aren't cheap but you pay for what you get...

I'll bet the troopers are impressed when you hand them a radio. That's a great idea.

We use the cheap beofang as handhelds for ground navigation and I keep it in my seat pocket as a backup.

I also run 2 cb’s, one I can leave on 19 and it’s also a backup to my main cb. Totally independent systems with their own cb, coax, power, antenna, and mic. Totally overkill but I had a coax go bad and lost contact with my high pole once. Not fun. DEEB5A90-E360-4321-9689-AB5822329A0E.jpeg

    As long
As long as you can see thru that gaggle of wires and radio equipment then your good to go... nice set up!

Yep, it’s a little busy. I tuck the bottom cb mic cord behind the radio, it’s rarely used at all. The other two Mics are next to my head and directly over my shifter.

    2old Thanks this.

Maybe it's because I'm getting 2old but I have zero tolerance for these people (mostly guys) who use these modified radios (some are expensive and straight our of the box) with echoes. Most of them don't even know how to adjust them to sound good, instead they turn the echo way-up and sound so annoying. But it is distracting and they seem to yelling on top of it.

So, I wind up turning my volume way down and sometimes shutting the radio off because it seems that they think they can go on-and-on with whatever comes into their head and spills out of their mouth.

VHF has to be great in cutting all that "CB celebrity" crap out and keeping things professional.
