I've noticed that we don't have a forum for livestock haulers, and others involved with agriculture, in the section labeled Tricks of The Trade - Occupation Specific Discussion.

    Is this just an oversight?

Personally I would love to have a forum like that, it would help me learn a lot about the type of trucking I've wanted to do since I was a little kid.

The topic of "Other kinds of trucking" has come up several times in the past. The response is normally along the lines of, "we would be willing to include other types of trucking if there were more threads about a particular segment in the industry".

At this point, you are free to discuss Livestock hauling, Logging, Household Movers, etc in one of several sub-forums (Experienced Drivers, Inside Scoops, to name a couple of them). If there is enough interest or enough threads relevant to Livestock, Logging, Household Movers, etc, we would consider it but those are so specialized, I'm of the belief you would be disappointed in the results.

I really think you might be shocked. I feel strongly that our numbers exceed several of the categories you already have. Just us cattle haulers alone much less agriculture as an aggregate. There is a major shortage of qualified or even trainable drivers in livestock hauling. Takes a completely different skillset and traits to do the job. Also our rules are different concerning eld and weights. The only forum available to us (besides social media which many of us have little to do with) is one that is cumbersome to use and attached to a load board.

It doesn't matter if there are eleventy-billion drivers in a certain segment of the industry, if those drivers are not creating threads on this forum specific to that segment, you're not going to get a sub-forum of your own.

It isn't hard to do. Get your friends, get your neighbors, get your neighbor's friends, have them sign up for our forum, and start talking about Livestock hauling. Sooner or later you will get your sub-forum. As long as a segment of the industry remains relatively quiet on this forum, there is no sense in creating an area that will be dead compared to the rest of the forum.

This is not "Field of Dreams". We are not going to build it expecting you to come. You have to consistently show up on the hardwood bleachers, then we will look at building a nicer stadium with padded seats, cupholders, air-conditioned seat backs, etc.

Fine. Forget it. I see posts under other threads every little bit from someone interested in hauling stock. There was a whole segment on it here several years ago. Wore out gave a good presentation on it to someone and I think I may have chimed in. Anyway throughout the years I have seen several people on here inquiring about what it takes. We are a speak when spoken to crowd in some instances and live by alot of old school rules. It is not like we are going to just strike up a conversation in ask an experienced.... or o.o. forum out of the blue amongst ourselves. We really don't fit in too well and don't want to make a nuisance of ourselves. It would be nice to have a place where we could discuss industry specific issues, like washout locations or sale barn info. Things of that nature that mean absolutely nothing to others. And a place where people that think they might want to give it a shot could ask questions and maybe learn something from us that have been around that might save there life, among other things. Btw, there are advertising opportunities in this industry as well. I know there are some Facebook pages that are specific to our industry but in the light of things many of us choose to support MZ as little as possible. I wasn't spoiling for a fight and tried to ask my question in a polite and professional manner. Your cynical tone in your reply kinda let's me know where we stand. Next time you have a burger (if ever?), think about what it took to get it to your plate. More than one driver I can assure you. Thanks for your time.
