Ya ever pulled a trailer with a removable kingpin? If you don’t hit them square you will push the kingpin right up into the neck. The trailer will pick up like normal but you will go right past the kingpin.

first time, just tell him what to do, nothing else, let him struggle to correct it, why should i get dirty or sweaty (if hot muggy days), or be late for my roller dogs and coffee?.
second time, walk away, or drive away. those roller dogs and coffee ain't getting any fresher.
if someone is so dense, or stupid to NOT earn from his mistake the FIRST time, he will never learn. -
If I see it’s a new “company” driver, I’ll show them what to do the first time. Hands on. Next week I’ll say bye if no danger exists
If I know it’s an O/O. Then….. F em. That’s 101 stuff there. How can someone buy a truck, and not know how to hook up Pet peeve
Open deck securement is different. I have no choice but to help them. Safety and the public blah blahbuddyd157 and Brettj3876 Thank this. -
Second week on my own after "trainer", like I said...last time was my first.sealevel Thanks this.

Been there done that, on RGN’s.
I don’t like leaving a trailer low, but on those it’s necessary. -
Same here. You wouldn’t think that it was possible with a trailer, but if you don’t hit an RGN perfectly straight, you can jump the 5th wheel. And no landing gear. Suddenly you get the crash course of the dunnage and airbags game.Gearjammin' Penguin, kylefitzy and MACK E-6 Thank this.

My only experience with RGN’s was with spring ride trucks.
TripleSix Thanks this. -

I would let him know every time. That is IF I have time to spare. But I would probably teach him to do things the right way. I had many people look out for me my rookie year, especially when I flat-bedded. So I don't mind helping people out.
