I don't see how you can't make this work, there's so much freight in that area. And I don't want to drop any negativity in an otherwise positive thread, but as I was reading your OP, all I could think about was the traffic through there on 35. Good God.... Are you already running that area enough to have to experience it, and are you alright with it? Because if you aren't, that could get old real F'n fast.

Otherwise, I think you got a winner on your hands.

Yes, I'm very familiar with the traffic in Texas. My last driving job consisted of running DFW, Houston, San Antonio, and even Austin. I also ran surround states like Louisiana, Missouri, Kansas, and even some Colorado. Thanks for your reply and encouragement.

Good to hear. I just recently had to pull 35 from DFW to SA on two separate occasions, and I'm still having nightmares about it. Sounds to me like you're going to kill it out there. Good luck!

Yeah, that Austin traffic is horrific. I always took the 130 toll around it all or I'd leave really early in the morning to get through there before the traffic got bad.

My advice don't use a dispatch service. They could give 2 ####s less about you. You'll learn even more about your lanes booking your own

Yes sir, they allow drivers to book their own loads so this is a viable option in this setup and I'm sure I will be taking advantage of it.

I've already got a subscription to dot load board and once I get this companies mc and dot number I will get access to other's free versions such as
Carrier 360 (JB hunt), Uber Freight, TQL, CoyoteGO, N Carrier, 123Loadboard, Convoy, etc, and learn them.

The biggest reason I'm going with these guys is not for their dispatching service but for their insurance. They quoted me 900 a month to use their insurance. I under my own numbers with 1 accident and a speeding ticket it's over 2000 a month with 4500 down. In around 6 months the accident will have dropped off and my insurance will be considerably less.

I also plan on getting my wife to help with the load booking. She can be looking while I'm delivering and such.

    Vampire Thanks this.
