Could someone give the pros and cons of driving a sand box or a pneumatic trailer?
    Thank you.

Pneumatic usually pays substantially more than sand box.Sand box is the lowest paid out of pneumatic, hopper bottom, and sand box.You will hustle more with pneumatic though like hooking up hoses and unhooking them and will need to spend about 10k on PTO and blower.

Doesn't it take a lot more time with a pneumatic? Is the extra pay enough to compensate for the added time and expense? I assume it is.

Sand sucks period. Might get a bit more to run pneumatic but it’s a pita. At least with sand cans or hopper bottom you can do more faster. If you’re paid by the hour then it’s barely a difference. Either way you’ll always have sand everywhere in the truck. Never ending sand.

I’ll give you an example. Was talking to a guy at the sand plant that’s an owner operator and he was doing 55 mile runs with a box for $300.A Pneumatic guy at the same plant was doing 7 mile runs for $350.

Was there any waiting time? Also how many trucks were running the 7 mile run as well? Been in this sand business and if the companies don’t pay standby, which most don’t nowadays, then it sucks if they’re not organized. It can be a good paying run but won’t be as good if you can only do 1-2 loads because of all the waiting in location. That goes both pneumatic and boxes.

Pneumatics, get paid for all work and higher pay.

Sand box, get your box taken from you to deny you detention. Then get told to drive 2 hrs if you're lucky to pick up an empty sandbox for free so you can go pick up another load, if you don't like working for free you can go pound sand.
