I tried it one winter when our work was slow. Never again. I stayed 'til Spring because that was the deal but I learned my lesson.
That's another of those jobs where "we're always hiring" is a huge red flag.
How secure are trucking jobs and how easy is it for new driver to get job?

JYou might look a little more into Estes. They do day cabs only. Put you up in a hotel every night. Pay real good too. I would t works for them myself. I don’t like hotel rooms. Done enough of that. More comfortable sleeping in my truck. I also bring all kinds of stuff with me.
Early to early works out well for most driving dry van. You might need to deliver or pickup in middle of night. No big deal with dry van. At least I don’t have to push the schedule mostly when I do that. It’s sane.
BTW: I’m 61. Been OTR for 3 years. I like dry van.
Here is my co driver.Last edited: Jun 4, 2021
MACK E-6, Speed_Drums and homeskillet Thank this. -
I was told by someone who works at a trucking company to make sure I learn to drive on a manual truck for my CDL Class A. This makes sense to me.
How can I compare prices for each school? They don't list them on their website.Last edited: Jun 4, 2021
