Then I suppose you're totally thrilled about the sheer number of law Enforcement Officers who were found to be speeding and had failed to pay their tickets in the Baltimore area.
And it continues to this day. Yet they still have a job and a license. Even though it has been proven there was NO reason for their excess speed.
Unless the law is applied equally throughout the population, civilian or not. It is a failed law IMHO.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

A couple of missed points: Who will hire you, who will insure you, and how many points per ticket? can you still legally drive commercially with 3 in one week?

I agree that I don't' care much about speeding tickets. Not having one means you either never got pulled over for speeding (aka, never got caught) OR you lawyered up to pay off the courts so you 'didn't get a speeding ticket'.

Photo tickets don't go on your DMV record...hence the opinion that the cameras do not have ANYTHING AT ALL to do with safety and have EVERYTHING to do with $$$.
Everybody should pull at least 1 camera off the pole and drag it down the road. -

I got 13 in one night on the Ohio Pike in 1978.

Big difference between court and USIS which is a private consumer agency where their purpose is to provide driver information to a company for a fee. I doubt they recognize the same laws or are held to the same standard as a court of law. In the beginiing of this thread, the writer expresses concern because he discovered derogatory information about himself on DAC which is USIS.Big Don Thanks this.

That pretty much sums up my thinking on this one.
The OP is talking about being nailed by CAMERAS. CAMERAS [possibly] used as speed traps. We don't have all the facts here, so why be so quick to condem this guy.
I'm quoting the original post here for folks who have forgotten what he posted about.
It is quite possible, since there was NO TRAFFIC STOP involved, that the driver may not have even known that he was speeding. He MAY have been the victim of a speed trap. IMHO, that is what ALL speed cameras are, nothing more than a speed trap.
Now I would feel totally different about this, if he had been STOPPED for speeding three times in one week. Obviously, if you are made aware that you are screwing up, then it is a good idea to make some changes.
But if you are not aware of it, it is a bit difficult to know what to change. We don't know all the circumstances here, so I'm for not jumping too bad on this driver until we do. If we ever do.
I've seen speed traps that had speed limit signs that were either obliterated, or hidden. Not to mention the ridiculously low speed limits going through some of the really small towns in this country.
As a former cop, it really pisses me off to see jurisdictions use traffic laws for nothing but money makers. -
you mean you didnt round it off to an even number?

I am just surprised that a local company would use DAC. I have worked for quite a few over the years and none used that service. They all know it is a total crock and a waste of company money to pull reports from.
As for the speed camera tickets. I am pretty sure some have gotten pics of me, since I have no idea where they are, I have just not been tracked down for whatever reason.
Heck, I know of 2 red light cameras that I probably set off at different times. They have really short yellow lights, and even slowing down approaching a stale green I have had times that by the time it goes yellow I do not have room to safely stop and have to go.
Sure I could have tried to stop. In which case several things could have happened.
1. Load shift
2. Rear ended by 4 wheelers behind me (that ran it also)
3. Stopped, but in middle of intersection.
So what was the best thing to do at those lights?
Well, I will tell you that in each situation that I have gone thru it the only thing I could do was go. But the light turned red while I was going under it, so technically I ran it.
So now all the people that have no freaking clue what they are talking about can rant at me for being unsafe and running lights.
