On public boards, how often to you run into listing which are already covered yet still left up despite the poster knowing they're expired? Are there times of the week when the boards are essentially full of these empty listings?

DAT gets funky sometimes. It's worse when you're posting Canadian lanes, since it cross posts to Load Link, or whatever the Canadian board is. No matter how quickly you pull it down in DAT, it can take multiple days to pull down on the Load Link side. Not sure why there's a miscommunication there, but there you go.

As far as missed postings... At least for me it's not done intentionally. Sometimes I'll get multiple calls back to back, and forget to pull one of the loads I've booked. I know that that's frustrating for you guys, and it makes me feel like an ### every time it happens.

Years ago I used to gripe about this all the time on a cheaper version of DAT. It didn't happen as much when I switched to DAT Power, which is worth the cost, but it's unusual I'm calling anyone asking about loads for going on several years now.

I've definitely had this happen before, it sucks but it happens. I've also called a posted truck to have the same thing happen.

Same. Or their truck is posted for next week, instead of Friday, when I need it. Their cross-post capability needs some love.

I could be wrong but I think Brokers leave it up to see how many calls they get and they judge their pricing sometimes by that.

Most drivers don't realize that probably as much as 35% of loads posted on DAT are either double postings or illegitimate loads. How does this happen? It happens like this; the customer sends out a legitimate load to 10 different brokers and tells them to cover it. The first broker that covers it gets the commission. The customer rarely notifies the other brokers that the load has been covered. Last year, I had one customer that would send out a quote request via email to 30 different brokers. Some of those brokers would post the load to see what they could cover it for (fake posting as they were not yet granted the load by the shipper.) If you see one load posted multiple times, it is probably one load with several brokers. (unless the custoemr has more than one.)

i see that a lot. 1 load, posted by 20 brokers, posted again for every possible day of the next week it COULD ship..... ends up as 40/50 posted loads for one movement, that likely got covered before it hit a public load board.

Yes Sir, that's how it works. It makes my job a lot harder because I rarely play this game with customers. For me, it's not worth my time. I look for exclusive freight which is generally what I post. All of these bogus loads clog-up the load board and make it difficult for drivers to weed through the bull crap and for agent/brokers to get phone calls.
