First Truck

To the O.P. I would look for a smaller companies selling their own equipment usually they will have a few to pick from. Ask for the service records and go through both the trucks and records with a fine toothed comb. If they dont have very good records or don't want you to see them that would be a red flag for me.
The company I bought from had no problem giving me the records for any of the units I was interested in. They had detailed every repair down to every chicken light they replaced and each time the driver locked himself out lmao. So far my purchase has worked for me. No one here can tell you what you should buy. You could buy a old pre emission that could nickel and dime you to death or a brand-new one that blows up on the first trip.

 

Ya but vehicle regs typically only apply to new vehicles. They don't usually render older vehicles illegal. Not at the federal level anyway. California is a different story, what with their uniquely disadvantageous smog-trapping topography and all that.

 

I bought a truck with a Detroit. The major emissions issues began at 400,000 miles. First repair projected to be around $12,000. I had the emissions system cancelled for $3,300 and the truck is running great with no more issues.

I was thinking the PRO act bull.

 

It's certainly shortened the amount of time it takes someone to lose their ###.

 

We care because when enough people start losing their ##### they cry for more regulation of the industry, demanding brokers be required to tell them how much they're actually being paid to move the load and such nonsense like that, and that's the last thing we need. We don't care if you lose your ###, we care that when you start losing your ### it starts to affect us.
The question was about trucks yes, your choice in truck pretty easily determines whether or not you make it a year before losing said ###.
