I have a chrome and I don't like the blue at night, I have it way up and tilted up to minimize it. The radio sounds good both ways, though.
-
even when its dimmed?is it bright or distracting or both
-
It doesn't dim enough, I'd prefer off, actually, that was one thing I liked about the Galaxy 959.
I can see it in the side mirror and in the glass. -
have u ever seen the classic 25 or 29 withount lit up knobs, just the meter and channel at night? if so are they not as bright as blue?
-
Honestly, the blue is the new gimmick to look, well, cool. I don't like it at all but I needed a radio in a hurry and I couldn't get a Uniden 78, I like the amber back lit faceplate better than the green, too.
The newest radios offered by Galaxy have blue, too.
It's usable but I wouldn't buy another blue display on any radio. -
so would
you rccomend for same price ranges get uniden pc68xl- pc78xl-cobra 25 v-cobra 29? -
IMO you can never dim blue lights enough at night. They look nice, but if I was a professional driver that ran at night alot, the blue would definitely out of the question. I have found red to be really easy on the eyes at night.
The chrome Cobras perform really well, but unless you can stand blazing blue lights, I'd reconsider..
As for Uniden Choices, I would go ELITE or XL...68 or 78 does not matter a whole lot
