That's sounds far fetched. A new guy buys a lemon and looses. Then cry's about more regulation on brokers? And regulating brokers to be more transparent is nonsense? Me losing affects you now? I must have some power. This is off topic. You said my choice in trucks determines whether or not Ill make it. I agree. The whole point of my question. Thanks anyways

Like lots of people have said you're better off going new if your thinking of emission trucks. You're not buying someone's headache. Used emission trucks that's exactly what your doing is buying someone else's headache.
Lots of dealer's are 6 months plus out right nowJarhed1964, Holy.Roller$, shooter19802003 and 1 other person Thank this. -

It had the slap paddle, so I started driving it in manual mode all the time to stop it from doing that stupid crap, and I got it up over 8, sometimes 8.5, winning several mpg awards even though I was driving at max speed.
Then Cummins put out a software update, which I initially hated because it would put out a constant alarm whenever you switch to manual, so I had to leave it in auto and choke on my own tears. But it shifted a lot smarter and would even switch into neutral a lot on gentle downgrades. So it was governed at 61 but the engine brake wouldn't kick on until 65, so if it was maintaining 61-65 range it would just roll along in neutral. One time eastbound in Nebraska I timed it at 45 seconds cruising in neutral. So I reset the mpg guage and started paying attention, and sure enough it was getting well up over 9 most of the time, sometimes 9.8 in favorable terrain.Last edited: Jun 20, 2021

You'll probably go through some of your own growing pains. If you get in now and rates stay high you can get that truck paid off in no time. There is always the chance of catastrophic failures with these used rigs but if you're going into business there is always a big risk of failure. ####, I've seen casinos go under.
You don't need 10 years experience, an MBA, and a pre emissions truck to start a one man band. Guys all over the country and succeeding despite the "your emissions truck is DEFINITELY going to explode one week after you get it" crowd. They are right that the price is high for equipment right now but on the other hand you can gross 25-30k/month on the spot market. Just have to roll the dice and hope you don't get snake eyes.Jarhed1964, Speed_Drums, Czar_Zero and 1 other person Thank this. -
You can start a fleet of pre emmision trucks, for what you will pay for an emmision truck. They will have less engine problems, no Def. You can still have an E Log. You will have the normal truck problems and repairs.
