Would like to give my 01 N14 CP a little more fuel, safely and possibly upgrade turbo. The engine is a 475hp model. I see manifold and turbo upgrade sold in a kit but fuel wise, the options look thin to none. Can you do anything with the pumps on these engines? I understand the engine is tired but I would like to do a rebuild this winter. I have a enough sense to make the truck last until then but would like a little more out of it for the rest of summer and fall.

What cpl do you have and how much power do you want? Usually 475 can go to 525/1850 with just ecm reflash

Mine is a 460 /1650 Celect Plus from the factory, and I had ATE here in Phoenix flasher to 565/1850.
The truck was like night and day after I got it back. I’m at right about 2 million on the engine without a rebuild, I’ve only done rods and mains internally.

I think factory specs will top out at 1650 torque. You're best option IMO would be an aftermarket tuner.

Watch it though, they are often hot

I believe mine is the 460/1650. It fried a few months ago and sent it to Midwest ECM repair. I asked him to jump it up to 525 and he told me that you can only go to 460 on this particular ECM.

Largest factory setting for the C plus is 525/ 1850 torque. There are also 525/ 1650 programs too, but 1850 is doable and common. I would avoid a hot setting.... the N-14 does not have the lower end capable of standing up long term to anything more than the 525/ 1850.

They can take the power, what they can't take is the low rpm torque application.

Cummins has 855 in gen set applications at 605hp, they don't have fretting issues, it was not until cummins tried to compete with cat and recommended pulling engines down to 1200rpm that the block fretting started happening, if a person drives a N14 like an old mechanical they will not have any bottom end issues.
