Little backstory. I've been a mechanic since graduating high school in 95, and have had my own shop since 2004. Got a couple of good guys working for me, but as you know, good techs are hard to find, and good shops can get completely overrun with business.

Two months back I decided it just wasn't worth it anymore. I wanted more free time, and my 100 hour weeks since 04 had me burnt out.

Decided since the only thing I know is trucks and trailers, truck driving could be my exit. Keep in mind, while I've test drive trucks, and moved trailers on the yard, I had never pulled a loaded trailer down the road.

Started paperwork for my own authority, bought and old truck off a farm in Nebraska, and started fixing it up.

I might have bit off just a bit more than I can chew, but I'll take on a challenge.

Picked up the truck in late April, and promptly realized the thing us boys in the south don't see much is rust, and this one had only a few bad spots, but very bad.

I'll post some pics to lead off and jump back in layer.

    Oh, dang.......

    Good luck brother.....

    We are the same age,

Some words if you go back to the shop. If you get busy, when your crazy busy raise your rates to weed out the bad fish and bottom feeders. Then you can afford to pay the good help to run the show when you have to get away.

Keep us posted on how she goes......
