Amazon fails to plan

I think it's perfectly reasonable for legislation to be introduced that requires shippers and receivers to provide a certain amount of 10 hour parking dependant upon the amount of trucks they receive on a daily basis. Kind of like if you operate a restaurant with sit down service you have to provide a restroom. Everyone needs to help with the parking situation and the very ones who need the trucks the most are the ones who refuse. The only help offered was some silly guidance that you can use PC when a shipper screws you over that isn't even really a law, putting all the liability right back on the driver.
Seems like a easy solution to help alleviate some of the parking problems that wouldn't effect tax payers a bit. These communities love the jobs and tax revenue the corporations that move in provide then turn their noses up at a proposed truck stop.

go deliver to some places in NJ, and park on the street, to wait, to get into the place.

 

why should government interfere with business.???

what if the feds raised the fuel taxes, wage taxes (of truckers only) to get the monies for parking, would you go along with that..???

 

No. I wouldn't go along with that. That's why the businesses that use the trucks should at least help. The very businesses that you think shouldn't help would love that plan though.

 

what if the feds made the businesses put in parking for truckers, and the businesses charged a fee to park there, made the truckers pay for lumpers, pay for using the bathrooms, would you go along with that..??

there are consequences to actions.

if the feds get involved, what good do you realistically see, that does not involve money taken from the truckers?

best for the feds to Mind thier own business. as it is now, they cannot even run the country, and you wanna see them run businesses..???

 

Obviously you have never been stuck at a place with a mile long line of trucks, with no place to park anywhere, no eta for loading/unloading and no place to go to bathroom.
Based on your comment, seems like you, yourself,are new to big distribution dry van/reefer world and don't know what you talking about.

 

As a whole I agree with you. I would much prefer for government not to be involved. But they are. They control every aspect of trucking and the businesses that rely on trucks already. I'm not asking for a sweeping change here. You act as though the government is not already involved. I think differently when I look at this eld in front of me. I'm sure they already have to provide government mandated handicap access for their workers that no one uses. It's not up to the truck stops or the tax payers to provide parking. You would think the industry would help itself in figuring it out without intervention.
I actively try to seek out customers that allow on sight parking. It can sometimes increase my weekly revenue 25 to 30 percent.

 

I realize that, good driver. It's just frustrating when you see big government spend all their resources on other things and not good people like yourself who are the backbone of what keeps America going.

it's the nature of the beast, we have to plan, and when those plans go awry.>?? we change up to another set of plans.

i been in long lines, i had to go back the next day, i had to arrive earlier than scheduled, even if it meant running harder.

i pretty much did it all.
