Is there a way to look up a trailer VIN? I am looking at a 2018 Mac step with 3 axles…does anyone have experience with one of these trailers? I’ll attach a pic of the VIN plate. The owner says is a 45ton but the vin plate says 80,000?? Can you help interpret the vin plate?
Help with valuation?

The VIN plate is frame rating of what it was made to hold, but the 3ed axle may have been added later so ck with Mac to see if they added 3ed axle and can give you a updated higher weight plate?
rch10007 Thanks this. -
the vin is also stamped in the side frame up towards the noise. look on the left or right side

I put in a call...they have yet to respond...
Are you saying the "80000" on the vin plate is what the trailer is rated for and then I should include axle ratings in addition to the 80000? So, if each axle was 20k, that would make this trailer capable of hauling 140k? That is the 80k plus 60k for the axles? -
80K should be the frame rating spanning a certain length of deck space and that should be the maximum load that the trailer can haul under permit.
this is a brochure from Mac and you will find the ratings on page 3
