I don't have an apu, I can't pencil the cost. I do have an espar for the winter though. For the summer I have those window screens. So far those work great. I shut the truck off and put the screens in, thn I have a little fan to circulate the air. On my 34 days, if it's that hot I will idle. One day a week of idle won't kill me.DeereRunner97, Flint1, jamespmack and 9 others Thank this.

Mine sits around 180ish° pretty much all the time in the Midwest. Around the house...all bets are off. I usually just turn the fan on and leave it on.....just easier that way.DeereRunner97, Flint1, jamespmack and 5 others Thank this.

Sitting in Norfolk Ne now waiting to get loaded. It's been a crazy few days. After my wheel incident, I later got harassed by the dot. Which made me a day late. I had it worked out where they were going to stay an unload me. Not after the dot hangup though. So had to wait until the next day....ugh. I did manage to load, drive 674 miles then unload all in one day though....score! Almost back on track now.

Empty I normally stay around 190. Loaded is another story. Radiator gets washed out once a week. Seems to push up to around 220 but doesn't ever get much over it.DeereRunner97, Flint1, jamespmack and 6 others Thank this. -
Yeah, I understand..
Me, I have always been a company driver... That former company had an idle policy that limited idling to a maximum of 2 hrs per day at no charge...
In the winter, going all 48 states, that was a torture for me...
My dispatcher was nice enough not to harass me too much about it.
I used to dress in many layers, sleep inside my sleeping bag and throw 3 more sleeping bags and blankets on top...
Nevertheless, one night I woke up at midnight with truck batteries dead... no lights, couldn't turn engine on.. my water plastic jar as solid as rock, my flash light got stuck in my lips and I had to go inside the small fuel station to call my company and ask them to send someone at 1 am to "resuscitate" the truck... I had to pick up a load at 1 am nearby and got late...
I let that kind of crap happen 2 more times just to show to breakdown dept. how important it was to idle the truck when temps went bellow freezing...
I don't have the same problem with heat... I have endured temps over 100F inside the truck... it felt like an oven... But I can tolerate heat pretty well indeed.
I don't like idling... can't sleep with that... Besides, some places like shippers, receivers and others where I would take a 10 hr break would not allow idling for more than 5 mins...
Anyway... after my last company, that had APUs, I won't live in a truck without at least a comfortable temp so that I can sleep well and without idling ...
