I need your help guys! Looking around to find the best mechanic in Chicago land that does a best overhaul on dd60 that’s also trustworthy… for some reason I don’t have a mechanic that I know and trust to let them play on my truck.

For what it’s worth, there’s a Youtube channel called ‘Trucker Yoo’ that you might want to look at. The two guys that do the podcasts are co-owners of a Chicagoland trucking company that has an in house shop (looked like 4 bays).
These guys are big advocates of your series 60 12.7L engine and work on them regularly. I can’t for the life of me remember their company name. If anything they’re a great source of knowledge on the do’s and don’ts of the truck inspection and purchase process, maintence of trucks and tips for would be start up trucking business people for anybody reading this reply to your thread. Good luck!

You can spend twice the money chasing “ The Best”. With the same end results. A good mechanic that’s trustworthy is just as good, if not better than the so called experts at Detroit or the Dealerships. It’s one of the easiest to overhaul, and least expensive. I’ve paid $23k, 12 yrs ago, at a Dealership. and $13k recently for the same end results. A good place to look is a Local Parts supplier, that sells aftermarket inframe kits. We have a couple Guys around here that do them all the time. Much better price. We’ve also got every Dealership, along with Williams Detroit, for those that want “ The Best” They’ll gladly take your money. Not to mention, they’ll have 2 or 3 mechanics doing the work, each one picking up where the last one left off, after punching out. I don’t like that.

It's a bit to the south of you. Best Detroit shop in Illinois in my opinion is Coiles diesel Saybrook IL.
