Lease purchases limit your miles to preserve the value of the truck, typically to 120-125K a year. Once you get close, they are known to start capping your miles. They would lose money on the lease if they were allowing drivers to rack up 150-160K a year. Some carriers will instead let you run hard as you want but they start charging extra after 120-125K miles.

Why would a trucking company cut the miles back? The trucking company isn't making money from the truck if it's sitting.bryan21384 Thanks this.
-
Nobody ever said it's sitting.
-
What I meant is, why would a company cut back the miles if the company profits from the truck?bryan21384 Thanks this.

If you cant book your own freight and work with whoever you want on the broker side of things, this means negotiating your own rates, booking your own loads, running wherever u want. I would not get into a lease deal.

I have seen this sentiment posted a few times. Not at all being argumentative, but can you suggest a carrier that offers a company lease purchase AND offers the parameters you suggest?
Thanks D -
Schnieder i believe has a program very close to this , although i dont think u could work with outside brokers . but you wont need to with how big they are. But basically u have full control over your loads which is the most important thing...
I believe gt express has a program like this . but dont know anything about it .
Dsv road transport has a program like this as well. But is only flatbed and stepdeckGabe2790 Thanks this. -
Thanks D
So, if you were starting out with a company that offers a lease purchase program, but loads are arranged through a dispatcher (I know that’s a big red flag, but bare with me) if you were offered multiple loads and were able to choose what you wanted, would that be something you’d consider?D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Me personally no, because if your personality doesnt mesh with that dispatcher you will never be able to work efficiently together and ultimatly they control how much money your business is going to make. Im not saying it cant work , but im just saying a lease purchase is incredibly hard . even harder when you dont control your revenue..... Just ask yourself this question. If you have problems with this dispatcher( and you will because its trucking) what will you do if they decide to give away all the good loads to another driver they manage and offer you all the #### and only the ####? They control your destiny while you have to figure out how to pay all the bills and assume all of the risk of the business...that is not a fair deal and that is how alot of guys fail.Gabe2790 Thanks this.
