Monteagle snuck up on me one night and I'm not ashamed to say I was worried at one point.

My father used to tell me about the optical illusion coming off cabbage headed west. I have seen many drivers with rigs flipped over on the right side of the road on the curve in the 2nd photo. In the first photo, that grade looks OK and you will soon be off the grade. This mistake has cost many a driver their lives. That grade looks OK to open up the truck, ITS NOT!

Someone else may have said it but you should not be posting while driving especially on 77.

The stretch of 35 from Ohio to Teas valley W.V. is a little better than before. Still 2 lane about halfway. Used to be narrower, no shoulder. Oncoming Trucks would almost touch mirrors. And regulars would run hammered down. Lol. Thick Fog area. Had to go all the way to 34, then up to 64. Be nice when it’s done. The other one I remember was the old 322 in Pa. on the River, with houses front doors right at the road. Lot of Trucks through there, non stop.

Maybe it's just me, but out west I feel safer on the mountains. They haven't been worn down by time, the jagged looks tell you where you are as a constant reminder. These east coasters are tricksies, you'll be rolling without realizing what a grade it really is until you're 10 over your cruise.

Yeah, I can remember being amazed someone hadn't taken down the phone and cable TV wires hanging across the road back then.
