now i hate to hear another driver got shot but it happens more and more sooner or later were going to have to realize that every body is not a nice guy.

years ago we picked up hitchhikers all the time but that was then this is now you just cant do it anymore, even if you carry a weapon as i do its still not worth your life to take a chance in picking up a stranger i don't care how good she looks.

the people out there today are treacherous in particular in the state of California , that why they call it the land of fruits and nuts and one of the big reasons i don't run the state anymore and don't expect i ever will again , just not worth it.

you simply have to be aware of where your at as well as were your going and what could be in store for you when you get there sometimes a surprise is fatal.

if your going to stay in this business you have to prepare and train yourself to be ready for anything that comes along, sooner or later it will and if your not prepared you wont like it a bit and neither will your family, and picking up strangers is no exception its foolish to do it and almost always expensive.

    just don't do it.

my best to all and stay safe.-----southernpride....:biggrin_25513:

Prayers going out to his family. That's my backyard! I had my tailgate stolen from my pickup in the Swift employee lot (guarded BTW) in adjacent Mira Loma. It's bad here!! Have parked and overnighted in that area several times.

I was making a pickup about a month ago in Ontario and a bobtail delivery truck pulled up in front of me with his rollup door open. I looked behind in my mirrors and saw some boxes on the ground, two guys in a grey minivan pulled up and frantically started loading it up. No license plate on the van and I couldn't get my camera phone working fast enough to snap their pix, I couldn't believe how brazen crime has gotten.

Cali is seriously jacked up nowadays, I'm sure the lack of jobs has a lot to do with it, also with nearby Mexico becoming the new Columbia, the crime and lack of respect for US laws is permeating our society as well.

That trucker that was killed was my brother in law my wifes bro. And he didnt pick up no hitchhiker he had pumped gas and the two ### holes that jumped in the truck were thiefs that had nothing to do but to rob inocent people that work for a living. The detective told us that he didnt even know they were in the truck untill they surpriesed him. I hope they die and suffer a long painfull death.
He was nothing but a hard working man for the well being of his family.
