Well, it is a mechanics special basically with a bad engine..... 3406A DITA. Has a factory Eaton Reman 15 spd.

I have argued with myself as to what I sent to do engine wise, I like the oddball stuff lol, so I even thought about a Silver 8V92TA for the replacement engine. Have long hard thought about original style A model Cat, and even changing to a Big Cam....

But, I went Friday and bought a 3406B Cat, and am in the process of getting it removed from the truck and getting it home. Engine will be stripped and checked, block and head sent to the machine shop, and then to a guys house that retired working on Cat & Cummins.

I’m having him do a out of frame rebuild on it. I was going to add CAC but decided I just don’t have the time right now, and the inside of the doghouse eliminates much movement of the radiator needed to add air to air.

So it will retain a Cat engine with the 15 speed trans. Already have 8 new air bags I bought from a member of the forum here. Probably be a 2nd truck at least for a while, I’m just to busy to spare much time in it, that’s why I’m farming out the engine work, and maybe even some EACC020C-F32A-4EBF-B343-06631B352AF9.jpeg D897108A-2817-428B-86A1-18276045E5FD.jpeg other work.

Truck originally was 5 different colors, has a O/O gauge package with the original clock as well. And oxblood colored interior with butterscotch buttons.....

The best boss I had used to fire me about once a month for the 4+ years I worked for him but it never took. He was always a hothead and when I came back with my own tractor 6 years later he hired me as his first "International Leased Operator" and I helped pioneer many of our cross-border lanes over the next 8 years until his death in a snowmobile accident. We used to have shop parties on Friday nights once a month or so where all the vehicles were locked in the yard until noon Saturday for safety reasons and the drivers were encouraged to sleep in their bunks.

As long as he is tagged for the weight,I don't think it would be a problem. I hauled my 90.hp 4wd tractor & loader with my 1 ton Chevrolet gas burner this afternoon.

I was a good employee until my employer tried to hold my hand. Suddenly, they wanted the office jocks to think for me.

Knew a Older gentleman. He retired mid 90's. Had been hauling steel since the 70's. Every settlement he separated legal, and what he made overloaded. He always had nice stuff, but nothing fancy. He was a hustler however. If he was busted over weight he had the cash. He had a run of good luck. Early 90's built a new house and sent two kids thru college in cash from the overweight account. This was no joke, and a man I know personally.
