Kinda how I feel these days. I've told myself that my current employer will be my last. When I'm done with them my hope is there'll be either a truck and/or a shop with my name on it.

How much can you typically get on a setup like that before you start exceeding the equipment ratings?

I know the drive axle on the truck is only good for 14.5K.

Playing around internet-building new cars, and I was surprised to see that a F250 (w/o duals) can pull up to 30k. I can't tell in the pic if that's a 3500? but probably pretty easy to do, on paper at least.

Around here they use a dually and a trailer for the cdl test.

That's what my daughter-in-law did.....then we just took a tractor down for air brakes.

She has helped a lot of local kids learn to pass the testing. She should probably start a school. Her state training cert is probably about to run out.

If it is a f450 or equivalent then the carrying capacity is about 7500lbs and towing capacity is 37000lbs. The trailer can be equipped with 12k to 20k axles and the trailer could be rated up to 50k.
This combo could easily carry a load of 25k legally and could permit much more.

We had our 2500 series trucks registered for 25,000 at EZ. Some guys pulled a pole trailer with up to 40’ poles on them.

I went and looked at a gooseneck trailer recently for my new pickup, trailer had a 20,000 gvw rating which exceeds my pickup. Pretty sure the tag on the doorjamb shows my truck is rated for a trailer just over 18,000 gvw.

With that dually in the picture and dual wheels on the trailer, it’s probably rated to handle that load. Trailer is probably close to 5,000 pounds tare weight or little over? So if it’s 15K load on a 20,000 gvw trailer, then he’s maxed out, but it may be a 24,000 gvw trailer too.

I use to pull a 12,000 pound excavator with a F350 & 20,000 gvw trailer from WV to Mississippi no problem.....
