CalArk is close to you. No students.
I dropped an application with Trans Am, Werner, Crete, Deboer, USExpress.
Swift isn't hiring until February at the earliest.
I am off to Werner in a couple of weeks.
I also talked to Builders Transport in Memphis. They won't be training any students until late February. They look good on their website. Decent pay.Last edited by a moderator: Mar 4, 2013

It just isn't that easy, my friend. These are tough times. I'm not saying crawl in to a cave and hide. Just be aware that you are only one of many in your predicament. Look and be prepared to do your search a little differently than the others.

From what I have read on here, it seems that most people have to do a year or two with a **** starter company to get some experience under their belt, then they can be pickier and get a better paying gig.
I personally go to Stevens Transport right at the beginning of the new year.allondrasdaddy Thanks this. -
You can check with some of the local companies, some may hire right out of school or no experience or they want one to two years experiece. Get out the good old phone book and start calling.

Check out CRST Van Expedited.... They will take you regardless of your past history, so long as enough time has passed. They take on students or recent graduates. They were hiring them literally about 100 per week back when I got in June of 09.
Its a start dude. Nothing glamorous. But so long as the economy is down, if trucking is something you really want to get into, nothing wrong with doing some time here or companies the like. Let me know if you have further inquiries! Beware though, this is defitinely a school of hard knocks type deal. Whatever company allows you their employ at this point in the economy, you make sure to talk to several of their drivers and fully understand that once your strapped in, you need to hang on tightly for awhile!allondrasdaddy Thanks this. -

A few hundred pages of posts on every company under the sun on this website, and yet everyday there is another new thread asking the same thing "what is a good company to go to/start with" or some variation there of. Here is a thought (and I realize some will not like this answer but too bad), go back and READ some of the older posts. Because asking which company is better is like asking which beer is better, Coors, Miller or Budweiser. There isn't much diff in any of them, they are all about the same, just like trucking outfits. Go with which ever one will hire you, put in your time. Figure out what you are doing, get seat time, then you have more options and some knowledge of who's who out here.
allondrasdaddy and p0pachery Thank this.
