Cut off the free money, Federal & State, see how fast those jobs fill up, all of them, everywhere, but alas, that's not what the G wants, nor the people getting the free money....

Almost every place I've been in the past few months has billboards advertising warehouse jobs. Signs on most businesses. If you aren't working, you don't want a job.

We're in a great freight corridor here & jobs are posting daily... craigslist is 800+ transport jobs over the last week (many are duplicates of course) & i'm not finding it difficult to find employment for all of our student drivers as long as they arent completely jacked up on their MVR.

Won’t work, there are 9 million open positions and a lot of them are with companies that want only experienced people.

cutting people off will further screw many people who are home with their kids or can’t find work as a replacement income.

fast food north of me are offering $17 to start and if you last six months, you’ll top $20.

    Insane.

    just automate the systems.

Missouri cut off the free money but hasn't seen the predicted surge of applications.

Never did fast food............but I imagine that is a pretty hot nasty job, cooking in those greasy
kitchens on these hot days. Smell would be overwhelming after a week or two...........not sure
I would do it for any less than 20$ an hour.

    bzinger Thanks this.

To be a contrarian: (no need to flame me)

-several hundred thousand potential workers died in the past year

-not sure if its the norm, but heard the McDonalds owner is netting $600-700k per restaurant on a $2 million investment. Better returns than a hedge fund guy, for basically a no-show job selling crappy food.

Very few of their employees get more than 32 hours a week so they don't have to get any benefits. For a "starter job" , I sure see a lot of middle aged people doing it as a second or third job. It used to be teenagers and retired seniors.

-child care runs a minimum of $250 a week for one kid here. So, working 32 hours at $12 an hour nets about $320 a week. So, that covers childcare plus transportation to the job, now what about rent and groceries and childcare for the other job, and time with your child?

    - For some reason, here the property taxes on a ####ty place to rent are about the same as on a comfortable middle class home. Even though they bought the apartments for $50-60k per unit, and the house sells for $150-180k. Local government knows how to get money coming in, with minimal resistance. They're too busy working, and the landlords writing it off.

-For too many employees AND employers, the idea of working hard, and steadily moving up, and getting raises for good work, doesn't much exist anymore.

Its now all about, what do i get this week/month/year. If I don't , then its "NEXT!" for either an employee OR an employer. Loyalty is dead. Life ain't easy. Less luck these days too.

Tons and tons of jobs in my state. Help signs everywhere. Even fast food pays $13/hr. Standard warehouse work driving a fork lift is $20. Low cost of living here too.
