Thanks again Rick G. Now do you know if this is enforced nation wide, for those states with restrictions, or is it a case of a local PD making money like your situation in KY? And by the way your little verse rings "Oh So True". I've been looking into purchasing a rig and running the road and this site some times makes me wonder and some times encourages me. supdty93 Thanks this. -
what would happen to a driver if his helper was busted with pot in the truck ? would the driver be charged?
-
Well that depends on the officer. It would depend on how much your partner had, were it was located in the vehicle, etc. The best advice I can give you is don't have your friend in the vehicle. -
Seems like a bad idea, but it's not a load thats actually likely to cause a major problem in an emergency just sitting in a yard. -
Thanks dieselbear she isn't a friend she's an employee she's the owners daughter and she left her little pouch in another drivers truck now I'm the bad guy for not wanting her in the truck with me we work with alot of law enforcement in three states we're in the repo transport business. thanks for the response. greetings to the dot help
I have a question concerning and issue I had last feb in 08. I was traveling through tn and had to stop for fuel at the pilot just inside of ga on i-24. this is late evening and after fueling and logging all correctly, i had just enough time to find a spot to park for the night but the t/s was full (having only about 25 spots) so I had to go up to the rest area about a mile up the road in tn and the only spot available was the inside shoulder near the exit ramp. after bedding down for the night for the req. 10hr brk, I was awakened by a tn state patrolman, who was a srg, telling me I had to move. apon asking why, i was told the spot i was in was a "no parking any time" area. I relayed to him that I couldnt move because i was out of hours per DOT regs, but he continued to insist that I do so or he'll call a tow. I then asked him to sign my log book verifying that he asked me to move but he declined saying, "I don't sign log books and haven't signed one in x number of years" and then he proceed to demand my id and other info. I gave them to him which he then went back to the car and wrote me a illegal parking ticket. then sent me to the walmart pl about 2mi up the road.
my question is was i right in asking for a sig and now on my mvr it states it was a "obstructing traffic" ticket instead of what was written.
if so what is the correct DOT reg for this sort of thing, as my trainer at school, at the company, and trainer for the driving told me that if asked to move and was out of hours i am allowed to ask for a sig.
also am i too late in gettin the ticket corrected on my mvr because of its nature?
thanks -

ok so im still confused. but they answer helps some. so there is no actual law stating the the officer whether state, local, or fed has to sign when requesting that the driver move? and would the 1hr or 2hr window to find safe parking apply in this situation?
