Carlisle Pennsylvania, Bethlehem Pennsylvania and many more are doing direct hires off the streets, and they've gone into a market rate increase for wages so instead of it being a 5 year payscale of $21 $23 $24 $28.75 then top rate $45 by then its $28 until year 4 then $28.75 then top rate.

I was a Harrisburg off the street hire in 2016, in 5 years I've never faced a layoff or a work shortage. 1 year 2 months experience at the time, show up take a road-test and i had the job, since then between Carlisle and Harrisburg they've hired about 200 off the streets.

Look up big sorting centers, sure if its York Pa or Gettysburg Pa or Sunbury Pa for example you might be waiting years because they have like 7 drivers at those facilities.

I will never haul another load of US Mail as long as I live..........

I used to make $19.18 plus $4.99 fringe that AEH paid us directly so 60 hours made me $1349.60, Right now my Brown run pays $39.05 because I haul the doubles ($38.55 if i didnt) OT is after 8 daily and healthcare is free. A 60 hour week will gross me $2733.50 we get a $1.23 raise on Aug 1st and another Dollar next August 1st.

I don’t know much about Mathewson. Not many of there trucks up here. But, first I would make sure they are paying more per hour than the Department of Labor Wage Determination. That’s the minimum they can pay. We make more than that, plus they are trying to renegotiate some contracts to get more from USPS. The market for drivers is so competitive in many areas, that DLWD won’t be enough to lure people in.
Also, just a pet peeve of mine is this. They also pay Health and Wefare benefits (they have to) to offset health insurance. If your single there will be leftover $$. Most mail contractors pay you the money on your check. Some are forcing you to put the leftover in the company 401k. Deal breaker for me, maybe not for you.

    4mer trucker Thanks this.

Yes UPS. You’ll never make more anywhere hauling mail. This year we’re on track for 125-135

i'm not sure if I read that right, is it ups paying the 125 to 135, or hauling the mail or both?

in my area tforce bought out part of ups and offers near min wage to drivers who are making 30 an hour already. but the main ups that pays better says apply online and they don't have job openings listed online. tforce offered 17 an hour to haul hazmat loads, when forklift operators i know make 23 an hour plus overtime pay and they don't risk clean driving record everyday on the job.

UPS because I’m through my 4 year progression.

Tforce bought Ups Freight not Ups package, they operated independently from each other and only shared the same parent company.

Current contract is 21 23 24 28.75 then top rate O/T after 8 per day, some hubs though like the ones in central pa are starting right at 28 because of the job market.

Best advice is try to find a larger hub and apply to it but make sure it’s ups package. I would never go back to hauling mail. The guys I worked with went from Aeh trucking to postal fleet, some split and went to thunder ridge now they’re scrambling to get into eagle 10 roads whatever it’s called now.

5 years 3 employers for those guys. Best of luck to you all, but mail isn’t the way to go in trucking.

They are hiring people right off the street and straight out of truck driving school in certain parts of the country. They have hired 2 or 3 the last 3 months at my hub with no experience.
