Try finding a 359 Peterbilt with a B Model Caterpillar running on ultra low sulphur diesel.
In a museum maybe on special Sundays when the sun shines at midnight in Miami. -
Everything but the dreaded SCR was replaced by Freightliner shop.
This comment is obviously been made by a neophyte who checks tire pressure by kicking them with a flip flop.
Yes, after 30 years I do know about maintenance and how to operate a tire gauge.
I'm not in charge of neglect by previous fleet owners.
I mention this to give other potential buyers of these trucks a "heads up".
And for the record, any truck regardless of brand can be rendered aftermarket useless by any trucking fleet.
Drive a former Swift Kenworth W-900 and experience it for yourself. -

True, you can't control what the previous owner did (or didn't do) to a truck but you can weed out the trucks that weren't properly maintained. Costs a few bucks and time to pull up Rig Dig reports, have oil analysis run, maintenance records checked and a mechanical inspection/dyno run done but it can save you from buying a worn out truck.
By the sounds of it, you paid a fair price for what you have. A sub-$25k truck is cheap because its on the threshold of needing major work.p608 and Rubber duck kw Thank this. -
Are you getting fault codes when the parked regen fails to complete? Are you getting SCR NOx conversion efficiency faults? I thinking your engine is probably a 15 liter but post last six of VIN for more accurate information.

Never buy a modern truck that has high idle time and did not have an apu from the start. Have a DDEC report pulled and it will give the run history of the engine
Hard brake, average speed and hundred other useful data logs.
The DD15 will do regens going down the road. I have owned 7 DD15’s from 2014 until now. They are a solid engine but I buy new and apu’s are put on my trucks before put in service.
That doesn’t help you. But sounds like you didn’t do your do diligence and throughly inspect and investigate the truck and pull samples and dyno runs, yes expensive for a candidate truck but a hell of a lot cheaper than what your spending now. Used fleet trucks are an absolute NO NO!. they follow the rule of breakdown maintenance and spend as little as possible to get the turd to turn in time. Meanwhile 30 billy big riggers have scuzzed it down the road and run the living dog #### out of it. Good luckAModelCat Thanks this. -
This might be worth a shot before you go and spend almost 10K for a stupid metal box
Get It Refurbished - Starting at only $999 - One Box -
Gotta remember what's ahead of the aftertreatment - the engine. If it's not healthy you'll usually see those issues manifest in the aftertreatment first. Seen a few aftertreatment systems replaced because of engine problems.
jason6541 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.
