They will try to push stuff on you, sometimes I run it sometimes I don't, but ultimately it's my decision.

Everybody gets approved by melton. I worked for them; it was a big mistake but they are supposed to be better now. I'll never work for them again.

I drove for Maverick, Melton, Hornady and P&S and P&S is the best by far, Hornady is pretty good too.

What do you ultimately want to do, just pull a flatbed or do you eventually want to get into oversize and/or step deck or RGN work?
most of the giant flatbed companies like maverick, Melton, PNS etc. are all the same. Only decent wages and generally good basic training.

If you want to get into bigger freight I would go to a company that does flatbedAnd oversize. You can get your training and then transition into the bigger loads, without having to switch companies.

if I were new, I would be looking into a company like Loanstar out of Texas, or even maverick where I started. Lonestar does everything from basic flatbed freight all the way up to giant super loads. maverick has an excellent training program and if you go onto the glass side the money is decent. Hauling glass will teach you to respect the load, Or you won’t last very long.

I live just over the NC line about an hour south of Johnson City...it's a great place for a driver. Lots of freight and fairly convenient. Lots of companies in that area hiring drivers. Always a couple with get home every other day ads, and the money isn't terrible...

Why? Because the trucks are automatics?
