Training for the most part has been fun. I met 4 people who I definitely can call friends. One of those people I consider family. 1 person our personalities just didn’t mix but we made it through it, and he is doing fine. 1 person was a complete ####### #######. This last one has been the straw that broke the camels back. Tuesday I will be dropping him off and I will gladly hop into a single bunk trunk never to look back. It’s amazing the fricking entitlement some people have.

I know we as trainers can’t judge trainees character when it comes down to it but wtf! This current one finally pushed my last button. Here is one small example. Last night we stopped to fuel, he was driving so I reminded him like I do every time make sure you put def in. We were 1 truck back so I hopped out to go use restroom, get back just in time to help fuel asked him if he selected def, got back the answer I knew I would hear. “No”. So for the 40th time I reminded him, just put the def in every time you fuel, 1 you don’t want to have to stop just to put def in down the road, 2 sometimes the def pumps aren’t working. Get back the same reply as always don’t feel like it, and def is always working. Today we fueled at a Kwik Trip it was an older one and guess what no def pump at all.
So anyway after he gave me his def answer last night I asked him, why is always trying to “flex” on me? Lol my son taught me that word. Apparently it means trying to show someone up. The guys like I’m not, so I gave him several examples of him not taking my advice or ignoring me.
I tell him all he has to do is listen to my advice and do things they way they need to be done for the next 1000 miles and he can test out.
This morning I get a message saying his truck is ready and he can test in CVille on Tuesday. The little weasel went behind my back and gave some sob story about how his dead mother has risen from the grave and needs help next week. Risen from the grave because a few weeks ago he told me his mother was dead.
Also his birthday is Wednesday and he mention a week ago he would like to be home to celebrate it. How convenient.
So then just a little bit ago he mentions to me that when we get to Cville on Monday I don’t need to stick around I can just get him into his truck and he can drive around and practice. Another WTF dude! Now I’m definitely going to stick around. I did tell him it’s not his truck until they say you can drive it.IH Truck Guy, Still undecided and Coragran Thank this. -

I think the bit about being over 30 helps is true. My trainer and I are both way past 30 and he told me early on he knew I'd end up doing things differently but to watch and learn how he did things and he was right. I don't do most things much differently than he does, but that's because I learned what I wanted to do a little differently by watching him.
I've only had to stop just for DEF once, and that was after a couple of back to back after hours terminal fillups where it wasn't available. It took about as long as getting fuel then, though it wasnt as bad as the fuel stop I made that required 2 left turns during rush hour traffic to get to another lane when the Pilot recommended in the fuel solutions didn't have a working DEF pump on the lane I used for fuel.MIT Thanks this. -
