Do any states have laws banning spinner knobs on commercial trucks? How about map software on a laptop in view of the driver?

i dont know about the knobs but dot will/can pull you over for a running laptop especially at night.
-
Ok, pull me over, but will they ticket me?
-
slow.rider Thanks this.

That was kind of my thinking. Its not like I am driving down the road surfing the web or chatting. It sits in my passenger seat facing me. Tough to reach it while underway.
-
they might not ticket you but they can pull you over. and that there alone wastes time. it's like a light bulb driving down the hwy. it hinders your sight because of the glare of the monitor and if you get pulled by dot or state patrol or even a barney fife officer it could be a time waster if not a fine.
bzinger and slow.rider Thank this. -
i have worked for company's the will remove the knobs and NOT return them to the driver.
i have worked for company's that remove the knobs, write you up, give you back the knob, and if its put back on the steering wheel, they suspend you.................
as far as the laptop goes, just keep it on the passenger seat out of sight.slow.rider Thanks this. -
Thanks for all the suggestions.

ive heard spinner knobs are illegal for personal vehicles but idk if that helps with commercial vehicles.

Suicide knobs, I believe they were once called. An old driver showed me his hand which was severely scarred due to a spinner knob. I can't remember but I think he said it happened when a steer tire blew out.
RockinChair Thanks this.
