HEY BIG WHEELS....
been a long time since I started this post, and havent been on in a while.
WOW......did this get out of control.
Thanks for the post asking how Im doing. Life is good, hope the same is true for you.
My wife and I are not driving OTR at the moment. We had some family issues that required getting off the big road.
We left Wil-Trans on good terms, and with a heavy heart.
We keep in contact with Mr Wilson (D W) and our dispatcher Kirk. We live in Springfield now, so we get to stop by from time to time and see the gang, and meet new drivers.
Ive even recieved a phone call a week ago from DW offering us a brand new(no miles on it) Pete. We regrettably had to turn down the offer for our own personal reasons. IF THINGS CHANGE IN OUR PERSONAL LIFE WE WILL GO BACK TO WIL TRANS IN A HEART BEAT.
Ive been reading as much of this forum as I can, trying not to laugh or pre-judge people for there posts.
I am obviously pro Wil-trans, but have heard drivers face to face complaining about some of the things ive read here, during fueling stops, and at recievers. Im the guy that always ran from you as you tried telling me some stupid rambling truck stop/company hate stories. I was running to my truck to get down the road to make my money, and that other driver was still at the truck stop looking for someone to listed to his lonely rants.
Ive come to understand human behavior, from my own life leasons. People do not like to admit there wrong, or they heard things wrong.
Example...I use to sell cars, and i had this great trick I would use for those "price shoppers" Id give them a super low ball price, knowing they just wasted 2 hours of my time shopping me, to go elsewere and buy the car if they could negotiate my price at the next place.
Well the customer would take my un realistic price, and go argue with other dealers they could get it lower from me. they would embarass themselves, acting like know it alls. Then they would come back to me, happy to pay my price. Well my price was "only for that day" because "I had a quota to meet that day", now today it is regular price. I knew the guy went elsewere and now ive got him.
My point is, the customer didnt want to go back to the other deals and admit he was wrong, after the behavior he displayed.
This is just human nature. All these posts on here, made me think of this. everyone has personal opinions, and percieve things the way they want, because we all want things to go in a way to make our lives easier. Some just hear what they want to always take the lazy, easy way out.
Nothing about the life of an OTR driver is easy. There are pro's and cons to every job out there. not every job in the world, is ment for everyone.
If your life at the moment is in termoil, lost job, no money, people start grasping at straws. I ask all of you...is this something that would cause people to "hear what they want"
I know Wil-Trans isnt perfect, and im sure some of the complaints are valid. I can honestly say though, that some of them are a little out there.
My advise, if your gonna consider Wil-trans or any other job for that matter, make your own conclusions, and check, and double check the answers that you are getting that are in respect to the things that realy matter to YOU.
If anyone has serious, real questions about Wil-Trans, please feel free to contact me via a private message, and ill be happy to help inanyway i can.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!!!

It looks like all they really want to do is preen you to be a lease operator. I guess you could do your time there and if they starting to push you into a lease, quit.
Not every trucker wants to be an owner operator as they state on their website.

AllondrasDaddy

Thank you for the kind words, I wanted to take a minute and wish you and yours a happy Holiday season.
I also wish you luck in your endevors with the trucking world. There are many choices out there, find the option that best suits your income, and family needs.
Also, Id like to thank "RUG TRUCKER" for his deep and educated observation of your post:

Im not sure how he got to that conclution from your 2 posts, but.......well there is always one out there......
I was never pushed or "preened" to be a lease driver, or owner op. I have several friends on the road driving for wil-trans who are company drivers right now, and Wil-trans encouraged that because the lease world is such a mess. YES THEY ENCOURAGED DRIVERS TO STAY COMPANY, even though most trucking companys main goal is to.......HHHMmmm LEASE TRUCKS.
Everyone has an opinion..... -
Just returned from orientation from WIL-TRANS, and I must say I couldn't have been more impressed. The trainers were fantastic, patient and wanted to make sure you succeded. In the two weeks I was there they never brought up the lease thing at all. In fact any time we as newbies brought up the question of lease, we were told that they would not even discuss leasing with us until we had at least a years experience with them. I am at home now for the holidays and will be hooking up with a trainer after Christmas. Looking forward to hitting the road and makilg some money.

Just reading their website, they were really pushing the lease there. I may be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.
