I was wondering the same thing about the Ort accounts. One account that I personally know of ( I ran it when we first took it over) came out of Oshkosh, second pickup in Bruce, Wi and delivered to El Dorado Springs, Mo. The problem with this run (as it was orginally) was the first stop was scheduled for a 1pm appointment time then travel to Bruce by way of secondary roads which took about 4 hours to be delivered to Mo by 10am the next day. Now I was told not to worry about the 1pm appointment that to get there asap and I would be loaded. This I did. I arrived at 7am and when I checked in I was told that they didn't have the paperwork yet for the load and I had to wait. I waited until 12 noon to be loaded. (This without detention since the appointment was set for 1pm) By the time I got to the second pick-up and loaded it was 4:30pm and since I I started my day at 4am (started out from Marshfield) I had to find a place by 6pm to be legal. This left me about 620 miles for the next day. (I informed my DSR that I would never make the 10 am appointment early in the day in fact I informed night support that it would be impossible the night before) I was due home for my husbands surgery for the day of the delivery and I wanted the load relayed so I could get home. Instead the appointment was rescheduled for 2pm the same day. So if you do the math I shut down at 6pm which meant I couldn't start my day until 4am the day of delivery (and the day I was to be home) and I had 10 hours to go 620 miles (straight driving, not taking in account a fuel stop I had to make at the crappy Pilot in Kearny, Mo.) I get pulled into the weight station in Mo and they decide to do a level 1 inspection taking about 1 hour. Now I'm behind. Call my DSR tell her the situation and asked if there was a possibility of not being unloaded if I arrive late. She told me that they will take me as long as they know what is going on. So I get to consignee 1 hour late. Go to check in and was told warehouse is done for the day the foreman comes out and tells me I am the 4th truck to arrive late and Roehl has been told about this that they will not take trucks after 2:30. That I had to wait till the next day. I was polite and apologized for the mix up, called my DSR and she said and I quote "I guess they are making an example of you". I was to be home that day but now I had to wait to have someone take over the load and then have to shut down because I would have exhausted my 14 hours. Needless to say I didn't get home for my husbands surgery. If this account is like others from Ort either Roehl had to hope the accounts would change their schedules or this kind of run had to be a team run.
    Sorry for the long post.

I wouldn't know; I haven't been there anytime recently. That's pretty much my point.

It's $50 for each trip in and out of Canada. New York pay has the same hitch - delivering and then picking up in the City is only one bonus.

Yeah that's how my husband interpreted it too. I looked at his statement where he took a load into Canada, emptied, then reloaded from there and crossed back into the states. I told him it was only $50 once and he said it should've been $100, going by what the DRG says, but going by what Hanadarko's friend says he wasn't shorted lol. Just wanted to get clarifications, thanks guys!
Oh and as far as cost cutting, when my husband first went curtainside he was told he would be paid tarping pay for each time he pulled the curtain...that lasted I think 2 weeks and then disappeared. When he asked them about where it was he was told it was at the customers discretion if they wanted to pay for it or not. I bet you can guess the answer to whether they did or didn't...

Watch the dispatch locations vs. the physical locations now too. I was told they are shortening miles by using closer cities. Nothing drastic, but it'll add up. IE, instead of dispatching out of Hammond they dispatch Gary. Or Black River Falls instead of Millston.

I did some checking and yes they did shut it down about a month ago. The building wasn't part of the sale...Roehl only rented it for a little bit to get everything together. Some of the trucks are sitting up in Marshfield and some are in use. I'm not sure about the accounts, but if Sara Lee was one, it's still going.

Hey guys, sorry I have been delinquent with my posts. I have not had good luck with any of the wifi accounts I have purchased subscriptions for. It just isn't worth the bother to mess with any more.

I am home now and heading back out in the morning.

I have been finding myself getting frustrated a lot lately and I am not sure if it is just the business or my FM. He keeps me in the dark and doesn't like to take calls unless he wants something special. I have had loads relayed out from under me after I have done all the non-paid work and been given relays with less than 100 miles, again doing the non-paid work.

I wouldn't mind doing the dirty work so much if I felt it was being shared, but I can't help but think that somehow this is the "dues" us new guys have to pay. Even then, I wouldn't mind so much if I could see it evening out at some time. So I'm just curious if other newbies are feeling like some things are one sided.

On the plus side, they got me home for my son's college graduation and commissioning this past weekend. My truck has been running well and when there were any problems, they have been good to fix it. I was going to stay home until Wednesday morning, but my FM called me and offered me a load for tomorrow morning, which should work out well to get me another load before everyone starts shutting down for Christmas, (since I'm going to be out, I'd rather run than sit on Christmas day).

So far, so good, I guess. I always feel better after I have been home for a few days. With no one to compare notes with, it can make a person feel like they are getting the short end of the stick sometimes.

I snagged quite a collection of books for my iPod Touch and have been catching up on some of the classics that I should have read but never did.

you and I are experiencing the same issues ... at least you have a full time dispatcher ..... I am now experiencing a 34 hr reset every week and it is not due to the 70 hr rule .... it seems I only get decent attention when I raise the issue ... it seems most drivers at least get pre-plans before they're empty .... for some reason it seems I'm not thought of until I'm actually empty and this I attribute to not having a full time dispatcher ..... I was supposed to go to home time fleet (7/3-4) but it seems my honesty has put that in jeopardy .... I mentioned that I MIGHT get a part time job to pay for the additional taxes the per diem bs is causing me and it is evidently an unwritten rule that this is not allowed .... so now my wife is going to work to provide the additional income needed until I either go o/o or resolve the per diem issue .... ho ho ho .... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all

My husband says there is something in the DRG (as well as being mentioned in orientation) about needing permission to obtain a part time job, this covers you as well as them by ensuring you're not taking another job that may interfere with your hours (a non driving job is what you'd have to take and clear with them).
As far as preplans tis the season, freights slow especially around Christmas (I think most companys experience this). My husband use to get preplans, but they said freights slow so now he doesn't get them at the moment. Plus each dispatcher tends to "x" amount of drivers, unfortunately if you need individual attention you'd be better off trying to find a smaller company to run for.
Sorry if I come across snippy, that's what happens I guess when I post shortly after I wake up lol.
Happy holidays to you all, hope you get home or get to where you want to be to spend the holiday!
