Even though it's milk, I'll probably keep it in mind since it's still tankers. I'm going to keep gunning for both fuel and other types of tankers since that's all I've been driving for the past nine years. I only got like two years of van/reefer in and don't really feel safe getting back into those. On that note, I'm also probably going to try for all the other fuel tanker outfits I see in the area. Plenty of regular gas station fuel deliveries I could try out that could keep me ultra local up there. Especially all the ones delivering to the Circle Ks and 7-11s.

I don't have any idea what the OP's educational background is, but several years ago my older brother applied to the FBI, The Alaska State Troopers, and one Oregon county sheriff's department, which were three departments who required a 4-year college degree to apply. The FBI, notably, required a 6'2" man to weigh no more than 167 pounds. After six months the FBI hadn't responded (they said it was good that he hadn't heard back yet), Bear in mind that was was during J. Edgar Hoover's reign.
Oregon didn't answer yet (no openings yet -- low turnover) and the Alaska State Troopers called him first.
He excelled there: tops in his academy class in EMS, shooting, academics (he'd been a Coast Goard officer) and second in physical fitness.
Presumably more departments have loosened up on requirement, but if you're smart, strong, and have strong interpersonal skills, one of the above might be a possible career move for you.

You have to look harder in KC. I live in Harrisonville, Souix Chief is always hiring. A billboard just went up for Church & Dwight “starting pay $20.xx - $34.xx per hour”.

Of course anything with the ability to transfer out again. If Denver does happen, I don't see myself living there forever. So Wally World is definitely on the list. Along with the usual LTL carriers. Staying mobile past 40. Even though I just turned 38.

Estes Express and Yellow/YRC are hiring in Denver and with either of those, you can pretty much transfer later about anywhere. Those companies have terminals all over the USA.

I'll just have to talk to the Estes guy in person if I'm ever living up there to get on his good side. I've already spoken to him a few times before, so any misgivings I'll have to wear on my chin.
